About Tanglewood In 1940, the Berkshire Music Center (now the Tanglewood Music Center) began its operations. Home to the famous Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the site of one of the world\'s best-known music festivals, Tanglewood hosts the Festival of Contemporary Music, along with many other events including concerts of various genres from jazz to pop. Today, Tanglewood annually draws over 350,000 visitors. Each season offers not only a vast quantity of music, but also a vast range of musical forms and styles, all of it presented with a regard for artistic excellence that makes the festival unique. Job Responsibilities Work as part of our Wheelchair and Lawn Chair team at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA. Provide a high priority service of transporting patrons from the parking lots to their seats and assisting guests with lawn chair rentals. The two parts of this job\'s responsibilities for this position are listed below: - Wheelchair: Assist patrons by bringing them to their concert seats, restrooms, gift shops, car, food venue, and other wheelchair accessible places on the Tanglewood grounds in Tanglewood wheelchairs. Arrive at Tanglewood at least 30 minutes prior to the grounds opening. Sit quietly and patiently while the concert is being performed or perform other tasks specified. Return guests from their seats to the Tanglewood gates after performances. - Lawn Chair: Rent lawn chairs to patrons who visit Tanglewood. Keep track of pre-ordered lawn chair rentals. Assist patrons set up the lawn chairs. Collect, stack, and record all chairs at the end of each night. Remove broken or damaged chairs from the lawn chair inventory. Set up and clean chairs prior to the gates opening. Arrive at Tanglewood at least 30 minutes prior to the grounds opening. Sit quietly and patiently while the concert is being performed or perform other tasks specified. Help collect lawn chairs at the end of the performance. Required Education and Experience - Must be at least 17 years of age. - Have excellent customer service skills, be able to remain thoughtful and courteous under pressure. Must be patient and be able to handle the general public under difficult conditions. - Must be punctual. - Must be comfortable interacting with patrons with mobility needs. - Each attendant must be able to push at least 200 Lbs. in a wheelchair, and must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. - Must enjoy working as part of a team. - Customer service and retail experience a plus. - This position involves flexible hours, late nights and weekends.
