Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood Custodial Coordinator in Lenox, Massachusetts
Title: Tanglewood Custodial Coordinator Department: Facilities Reports To: Fallyn Davis, Facilities Operations Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt/Seasonal GENERAL RESPONSIBILTIES: The Custodial Coordinator oversees and coordinates maintenance activities of seasonal and part-time employees assigned to maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation and product stocking of restrooms and performance buildings, furnishings and equipment as well as building entrances and exterior walkways. The Custodial Coordinator is also responsible for training seasonal and part time employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, cleaning solutions and safe clean-up and handling of bio-hazards and leading the execution of the custodial program. Performs other duties as assigned. SPECIFIC DUTIES: 1. Supervises the activities of restroom attendants by using both verbal and written instructions in compliance with the guidelines provided by the Facilities Operations Manager and using independent judgment. 2. Ensures that custodial services meet the standards of the Tanglewood facilities department using established custodial best practices. 3. Ensures that the quality of custodial services meets established guidelines by inspecting the work of custodial personnel and directing corrective measures to be taken when necessary to meet those guidelines. 4. Develops an effective team of custodial personnel by instructing restroom attendants in the proper methods and use of materials and equipment for safe and efficient work performance. 5. Ensures that restroom attendants have the equipment and supplies necessary to perform custodial services by issuing supplies as needed, and storing the supplies and equipment in a secure storage facility. 6. Inspects the work performed by contracted custodial providers, advising the Facilities Operations Manger when shortcomings or other deficiencies are noted. 7. Leads the successful execution of the custodial program working with the custodial team. 7. Contributes to the overall success of the Tanglewood facilities department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned. MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS Education: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required. Experience: At least 5 years experience in custodial services, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity with knowledge of safe and effective cleaning procedures, equipment and supplies. Skills: Supervisory skills; organizational skills; strong oral and written communication skills; and the ability to train new employees. Effort: Requires the ability to perform high quality custodial services and inspect the cleanliness of facilities and areas that may only be accessible by climbing ladders or stairs, bending, reaching on top of partitions, supplies, or equipment. Must be able to move throughout assigned areas, as work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Requires the ability to lift and carry custodial supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
