Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood Assistant Manager-Lawn&Wheelchair in Lenox, Massachusetts

About Tanglewood In 1940, the Berkshire Music Center (now the Tanglewood Music Center) began its operations. Home to the famous Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the site of one of the world\'s best-known music festivals, Tanglewood hosts the Festival of Contemporary Music, along with many other events including concerts of various genres from jazz to pop. Today, Tanglewood annually draws over 350,000 visitors. Each season offers not only a vast quantity of music, but also a vast range of musical forms and styles, all of it presented with a regard for artistic excellence that makes the festival unique. Job Responsibilities - Support the Lawn & Wheelchair Rental Manager in managing up to 20 staff members. - Train the staff in assisting Tanglewood patrons with wheelchairs and with the lawn chair / cushion rental (see descriptions on the Tanglewood jobs page). - Become proficient on the sales method for lawn chair / cushion rentals, and train the staff - Schedule the wheelchair and lawn chair / cushion rental staff for each concert. - Work with Tanglewood Facilities to keep the wheelchairs in proper working order. - Work independently to manage the Wheelchair and Lawn Chair rental operations for smaller concerts or when the manager is away. - Manage the Lawn & Wheelchair Attendant staff duringf conerts, in support of the Manager. Qualifications - Must be at least 18 years of age. - Have excellent customer service and leadership skills, be able to remain thoughtful and courteous under pressure. Must be patient and be able to handle the general public under difficult conditions. - Be organized, and be able to support the management of the Lawn Chair Rental and Wheelchair Attendant team. - Must be able to assist in leading a team of around 20 part-time staff members and fill the role as manager when needed. - Must be comfortable interacting with patrons with mobility needs. - Must be able to push at least 200 Lbs. in a wheelchair, and must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. - Customer service and retail experience a plus. - This position involves flexible hours, late nights and weekends.
