Massachusetts Employer Staff Accountant in Lawrence, Massachusetts

OVERVIEW: The Staff Accountant is an exempt position that reports to the Assistant Controller and Chief Financial Officer. The Staff Accountant is responsible for AP and AR functions, preparing journal entries, and reconciling various accounts. DUTIES: Prepare and file sale tax returns in compliance with various state tax laws and regulations. Review and release customers\' orders according to accounting procedures. Analyze and review purchase orders, prices, payment terms, and other charges. Communicate variances and issues to the purchasing department. Process due invoices for payments and perform AP voucher invoices in the ERP system with proper supporting documentation and approval process. Create weekly sales reports and review AR communication log reports for senior management. Perform Journal entries and reconcile various accounts. Track all payments and expenditures, including purchase orders, invoices, and statements. Process credit card statements with proper supporting documents, and purchase orders, and record transactions to proper accounts and departments. Identify any irregular purchases on credit cards to management. Verify the validity of RMA by obtaining and investing information from original orders and communicating variances to customer service and technical support. Identify and recommend efficiency and effectiveness processes in AP and AR functions for management. Provide support and guidance for the Accounting Clerk position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skilled with Excel, Word, and ERP system. Strong attention to detail and highly organized. Preferred: 3 years of professional accounting experience. Physical Requirements There are several deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress. Will spend long hours sitting, using office equipment such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer, which can cause muscle strain. The person in this position frequently communicates with customers who have inquiries about the product, invoices, or shipping confirmation.
