Senior Accountant – Nonprofit
Lawrence MA, 3 days in office 2 days remote

About the Role:
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, managing grants, and supporting budgeting processes for a well-established nonprofit organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional looking to make an impact while working in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation
Manage grant accounting and compliance with nonprofit reporting standards
Perform reconciliations and ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Utilize Sage software for accounting and reporting functions
Leverage advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros preferred) for financial data management
Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
Requirements
• Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of detail-oriented experience in accounting.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation is mandatory for this role.
• Experience in balance sheet reconciliation is required.
• Familiarity with bank reconciliations is a must.
• Proficiency in managing and maintaining the general ledger is essential.
• Ability to prepare and manage journal entries is crucial.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including expertise in Excel formulas and Excel VBA, is required.
• Experience with month-end close processes is crucial.
• Proficiency in using NetSuite for accounting tasks is necessary.
• Experience using Oracle for accounting operations is a must.
• Knowledge of SAP for finance and accounting is required.
• Prior experience in non-profit accounting is a significant advantage.
• Experience in grant accounting is highly desirable.
