Summary This position is located in the Associate Chief of Staff Service for the Education Office. We have a creative and energetic team responsible for the education and wellbeing of all VA Boston trainees and faculty. Selectee may be expected to travel for this position up to 25 percent of the time between VA Boston Healthcare System campuses. Responsibilities The Primary Purpose of the Position is: To perform a variety of clerical, administrative and technical duties in support of Education Service. Some of the duties of this position are: Manages the credentialing of more than 3000 trainees. Credentialing includes verification, if applicable, of medical license, health and vaccination screen, VA mandatory training, citizenship, and identify verification. Also, provides verification of credentialing for previously graduated trainees. Coordinates administrative activities for the financial support of students, residents and fellows active at VA BHS, including the expanding physician assistant group. Coordinates with all services and students on the documentation required by the Office of Academic Affiliations of Financial Support of students. Assists the Program Specialist and Health System Specialist in developing and maintaining academic affiliations by preparing all affiliation and application documents for signature as directed. Maintains database of all current academic affiliation and trainees and collects, analyzes data for the purpose of preparing various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Manages the VA healthcare professional Continuing Education including Continuing Medical Education through TMS. Troubleshoots problems with Education Training Software and inputs and assigns user access and provides training to users as instructed. This Education Technician, GS 06 position is being established as a career ladder position (GS 1702-5) to the FPL of Education Technician GS 6. At levels GS-5, the work will be performed with more supervision and guidance. The work of this position is the same as described at the FPL (GS 6), but is performed with closer supervision and guidance. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-5) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Provides verification of credentials for previously graduated trainees; Maintains database of all affiliations, and coordinates and tracks appointments.
