Job Profile Summary

​This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Medical/Behavioral Health duties: Provides behavioral evaluation services to patients and are specialized in the evaluation and treatment of mental, emotional, and/or behavioral issues. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. A specialist level role that is a recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Typically manages large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager, coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level professionals, resolving difficult and often complex problems.

Job Overview

This position is a highly trained professional who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Conducts psychological assessments, develops treatment plans, and implements evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help clients address their specific challenges. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals, maintains detailed client records, and stays current with advancements in psychological research and treatment modalities. This position plays a critical role in promoting mental health and well-being through assessment, therapy, and support.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PHD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology.

  2. Clinical Psychologist license.

  3. Two (2) years of counseling experience in a community mental health setting.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  1. Provides evaluation and treatment to clinic clients including psycho-social assessment, treatment planning, short and long-term therapy, couples therapy, family therapy and group therapy.

  2. Coordinates care of assigned clients with clinic-based providers and others involved with the client’s care.

  3. Responds to the needs of patients and the clinic, including responding to urgent care requests and being available to take on new cases as needed.

  4. Works with other community agencies, as time permits, to provide consultation, in-service education and assistance in the development of new referral sources.

  5. Provides liaison between the clinic and other area agencies, as well as medical providers within HHS.

  6. Completes all paperwork and documentation related to client records, statistics, billing, necessary reports and correspondence in a timely manner.

  7. Follows procedures related to urgent care, patient flow, new case assignments, termination and other required patient contact.

  8. Identifies, using format and guidelines, high-risk clients and review these cases with clinical leadership.

  9. Provides expected number of visits per year as determined by clinic productivity standard.

  10. Participates in clinical supervision, consultation, and in-service training as assigned.

  11. Participates in department and center-wide meetings, contributing to professional growth of others and self, as well as to the needs of the clinic.

  12. Participates in community-based activities as requested.

  13. Participates in chart reviews and other process improvement efforts as requested.

  14. Provides back-up coverage as needed.

  15. Participates in special projects as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Frequent sitting, occasional standing & walking, and lifting of 5-10 lbs.

  2. Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate computer keyboard.

  3. Requires ability to see computer screen and reports.

Skills & Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of psychological theory and clinical practice.

  2. Strong mental health generalist skills in working with adult population—young adult through geriatric.

  3. Excellent interpersonal skills needed for interacting effectively with patients, their families, and other professionals.

  4. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assess the needs of patients of all different age populations in order to provide care appropriately.

  5. Cultural sensitivity and awareness to address the diverse needs and backgrounds of patients.

  6. Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and develop therapeutic alliances.

  7. Effective communication skills to explain complex medical concepts to patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.

  8. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other mental health professionals.

  9. Empathy, compassion, and a patient-centered approach to provide support and reassurance to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

  10. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and other clinical documentation tools.

  11. Knowledge of community resources in mental health .
