Job Summary
Note: This role will support the area south of Boston to include cities and towns such as Scituate, Mansfield, Bridgewater, Brockton and Duxbury.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) has a full-time opportunity available as a Volunteer Support Specialist. Reporting to the Associate Director of Volunteer Support, the Volunteer Support Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to Girl Scout volunteers.
This position is a flexible hybrid work arrangement, with a GSEMA office located in Middleboro. This position requires 50% travel within the council service area.
Supporting the volunteers in the region south of Boston, and with a focus on membership retention and support in an assigned geographic area, the Volunteer Support Specialist works collaboratively to ensure volunteers are prepared to deliver a high-quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
As a member of a collaborative team you will:
• Offer in-person support to volunteers that may include night and weekend activities
• Manage and mentor service unit (community leadership) volunteers
• Collaborate cross-departmentally to recommend volunteers for additional opportunities and to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, including promoting volunteer trainings, programs, events, camp, travel and troop volunteerism
• Proactively retain Girl Scout membership through strategic initiatives
• Utilize formal and informal strategies to celebrate and appreciate volunteers; Assist in planning, promoting and delivering signature volunteer events annually
• Oversee resolution of member conflicts when necessary, and appropriately report more sensitive issues to senior staff
• Utilize Salesforce to consistently document member communications

Job Qualifications
Here is what you’ll need to succeed in this role:
• Work equivalent experience in a membership organization or experience in a related field with experience in volunteer management and support
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends for events.
• Ability to effectively identify, analyze, and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment. Ability to use sound judgment in decision-making and to work independently
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Have strong decision-making and conflict-resolution skills
• Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office software; adept at utilizing social networking
• Strong public relations skills and ability to develop community collaborations.
A plus if you:
• Have bilingual skills or
• Have experience utilizing Salesforce
