Housing Assistance Corp. Senior Accountant in Hyannis, Massachusetts
Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC) is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support our financial operations and help maintain the fiscal integrity of our housing programs. This role is crucial to ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency, particularly in Leased Housing Accounting and other key financial functions. If you are detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about making a difference, we encourage you to apply! Key Responsibilities: Post monthly and year-end general ledger entries to Sage. Process program receipts and rent payments in Sage. Manage daily deposits and oversee cash management for related bank accounts. Coordinate with the Leased Housing department to process bi-monthly check runs. Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile GL accounts, Due From/To accounts, and balance sheets. Maintain escrow accounts Prepare and distribute 1099s at year-end. Complete fiscal year-end reconciliation and audits. Additional Responsibilities: HUD+ invoicing and accounts receivable invoicing. Serve as a backup for accounts payable (AP) and Happy Software functions. Oversee VISA management and expense reporting. Maintain an organized and efficient filing system for financial records. Support general accounting functions and contribute to process improvements. Uphold HAC\'s Guiding Values, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven workplace. What You Bring: Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in housing, nonprofit, or grant-funded organizations. Strong proficiency in GAAP, Sage, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting. Experience with Tenmast or similar housing software is a plus. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
