Berkshire Meadows Paraprofessional/Wake-Up Staff in Housatonic, Massachusetts

QUALIFICATIONS: At least one year experience working with people with developmental disabilities or with people who have physical disabilities or medical conditions; valid driver\'s license from Massachusetts, Connecticut, or New York and ability to drive program vans; minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, push and/or pull more than 50 pounds, bend and stand for long periods of time. GENERAL DEFINITION AND RESPONSIBILITES: During the operating hours of The Learning Center, the person acts as a Paraprofessional and will assist the teachers and the Director of Day Services in all aspects of the students\' programs. Following the directions of his/her supervisor, person will be responsible for the students\' personal care, implementation of the students\' Individual Education Plan through active treatment, and behavior management as directed. The person will work Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM regardless of holidays or weather conditions. At the beginning and end of each day, whenever the Learning Center is closed or in the case of illness requiring students to stay home, person will act as residential personnel. Performs duties of Paraprofessional in the School Program as an assistant to the teachers when The Learning Center is open. Performs residential duties (7-8:30 AM and 2:30-3 PM) as assigned on days when the students are attending The Learning Center. Performs residential duties on days when The Learning Center is closed or when it is necessary to stay home with a group of students who are unable to attend the program.
