Eliot Community Human Services Therapeutic Mentor (Part-time) in Holyoke, Massachusetts

Description

Therapeutic Mentoring

Did you have that one person in your life that made a difference? Do you want to be that person? Eliot is seeking a passionate, empowering Therapeutic Mentor to support resiliency for clients through the Wraparound Approach.

" The single most common factor for children who develop resilience is at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive parent, caregiver, or other adult. " National Scientific Council on the Developing Child (2004). Young Children Develop in an Environment of Relationships: Working Paper No. 1. Retrieved from www.developingchild.harvard.edu.

Since 1878 the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) has been leading the way for protecting and promoting the rights and well-being of children and families in Massachusetts. Starting in the 1960s, Eliot Community Human Services has been committed to providing high quality, comprehensive, strengths and evidence based services to meet the diverse needs of individuals in Massachusetts. In 2016, the two agencies joined forces to strengthen their mission together. Today there are over 2,000 full and part-time professionals that advocate for and serve over 30,000 adults, children and families in the Commonwealth everyday!

As a Therapeutic Mentor you would be making a difference by working one-on-one with youth in the community to help them identify strengths and build their competencies while having fun. Using a Wraparound Approach you would work with the youth to understand their needs and be their voice until they can find their own. Your responsibilities would include weekly visits with the youth in the community, weekly contact with the family and care planning team and ongoing treatment planning.

You will be supported through ongoing education, training and consistent weekly supervision. You will have the opportunity to learn and work collaboratively with various child serving agencies including the behavioral health system, the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Mental Health, the education system, and local community resources.
