Actalent Quality Assurance Technician in Holyoke, Massachusetts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct essential testing procedures for film, paperboard, and finished goods, including Quick PEEK, Adhesion Testing, visual inspections, caliper measurements, and coating weight evaluations.

  • Familiarize yourself with our mixing, coating, embossing, and laminating processes to aid in thorough process audits.

  • Analyze test results against established standards and pinpoint opportunities for improvement.

  • Utilize our internal Quality windows system to analyze data and identify potential issues.

  • Engage in Root Cause Analysis and implement Corrective Action Techniques.

  • Assist in product non-compliance investigations and help resolve customer complaints.

  • Collect samples, perform tests, and generate insightful reports.

  • Collaborate with the Supplier Quality Team to set visual standards and create new specifications based on data and samples collected.

  • Operate essential lab equipment including Goniometers, Analytical balances, Microscopes, and various QC instruments.

  • Use statistical analysis to uncover trends and non-conformance.

  • Prepare samples for internal and external evaluations and ensure safe shipping.

  • Develop and document test procedures that enhance our quality practices.

  • Communicate effectively with production operators to proactively monitor and tackle potential issues.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at elevating product quality.

  • Maintain meticulous records for all projects and initiatives.

  • Utilize FTIR for troubleshooting and assist in exciting new product development projects.

  • Explore and implement new processes and equipment to continuously boost our overall quality performance.

Essential Skills:

  • Prior experience in quality control and laboratory settings.

  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Familiarity with GMP standards.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong observational skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Visual acuity for detecting defects.

  • Ability to adhere to written procedures and work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Background in Chemistry is a plus.

  • Experience in quality assurance and inspection.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience or training preferred.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

  • Completion of ASQ Quality Technician certificate or Quality Improvement Associate training within two years of hire.

Work Environment:

  • Enjoy a Monday through Friday schedule, 7am-3pm.

  • Experience a dynamic work environment with moving mechanical parts, potential electrical risks, and occasional exposure to fumes and chemicals, requiring annual training on hazardous waste management procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $25.00/hr.
