Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will become proficient in various film, paperboard, and finished goods test procedures, assist in process audits, and participate in product non-compliance investigations. This role involves operating basic lab equipment, applying statistical analysis to data, and collaborating with production operators to monitor processes and identify potential issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic film, paperboard, and finished goods test procedures including Quick PEEK, Adhesion Testing, Visual inspection, caliper, and coating weight evaluation.

  • Observe and gain familiarity with mixing, coating, embossing, and laminating processes to assist in process audits.

  • Compare test results to documented standards and identify areas for improvement.

  • Analyze data using the internal Quality windows system to identify potential issues.

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Techniques.

  • Participate in product non-compliance investigations and customer complaint resolutions.

  • Collect and test samples, generate data, and write basic reports.

  • Support the Supplier Quality Team with data and sample collection to set up visual standards and develop new specifications.

  • Operate basic lab equipment such as Goniometer, Analytical balance, Microscope, and various QC instruments.

  • Apply statistical analysis to identify trends and non-conformance.

  • Collect representative samples for internal and external evaluation and prepare samples for shipping.

  • Develop and write basic test procedures and quality procedures.

  • Communicate and collaborate with production operators to monitor and address potential issues.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance product quality.

  • Maintain good record-keeping practices for projects.

  • Operate FTIR for troubleshooting analysis and assist with new product development projects.

  • Investigate new processes, equipment, and procedures to improve overall quality performance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Visual acuity to detect defects

  • Ability to follow written procedures

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong observation skills

  • Background in Chemistry

  • Quality assurance and inspection experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Three to five years of related experience or training

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Completion of ASQ Quality Technician certificate or Quality Improvement Associate training within two years of hire

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7am-3pm. The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually loud. This position involves the generation, handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous waste, requiring annual mandatory training on hazardous waste management procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $25.00/hr.
