PAYROLL ANALYST We know that students do their best when they pursue their passions, so we have designed multiple pathways where all students graduate prepared to excel in college, career, and community leadership. Holyoke Public Schools (HPS) serves 5,400 students (of which over 80% are Latinx) in 13 schools and employs nearly 1,500 people.The District was placed into receivership by the State of Massachusetts in Spring 2015, because of struggling performance, and has since implemented a Turnaround Plan that has led to expanded choice programs (such as dual language, STEM, and early college) and new opportunities for students to explore the arts, sports, sciences, and local and world cultures. Since 2015, the District has experienced numerous accomplishments for instance: doubling access to PreK programming 10-point graduation rate increase 85 percent increase in access to early college programming 13-point increase (to 26%) teachers of color Payroll Analyst The Payroll Analyst will oversee the organization\'s payroll functions for a set of 5-7 schools, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Duties/Responsibilities: Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions Oversees the tracking of accruals Develop, implement, monitor and continuously improve the payroll process to ensure the process is clear, efficient, and user friendly for all users Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records. Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and contractual payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors Identifies and recommends updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures. Assists the team in resolving complaints and troubleshoot other complex errors Supports the Chief HR Officer in preparing for contract negotiations and implementation Responds to inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll Develops communication plans and drafts memos related to payroll Resolves payroll issues in a timely manner Trains supervisors and office staff on payroll process/procedures Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong supervisory and leadership skills Ability to learn new systems quickly and experience with payroll software Must be committed to a culture of diversity, equity, respect and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences different from ones\' own Experience with process improvement and project management Able to exercise initiative and independent judgment Strong communication and office skills; is pleasantly engaging with the ability to easily pivot between tasks; team-oriented; and strives to resolve challenges when they arise Ability to remain calm under pressure and to de-escalate as needed Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and within applicable laws and regulations Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred Four years of experience in payroll processing required with two years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
