State of Massachusetts Environmental Services Working Supervisor - 2nd Shift in Holyoke, Massachusetts

The Veterans Home at Holyoke is seeking a hard-working and collaborative professional for our Evening Shift Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor. The incumbent for this position is responsible for the Evening Shift EVS team to maintain the Home’s clean, sanitary, and attractive conditions. The selected individual will also perform cleaning functions to include sweeping, dust and wet mopping floor surfaces, cleaning windows, walls, woodwork, and emptying trash receptacles. /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ * Coordinates and performs the activities of the assigned units to ensure effective operations and compliance with established standards * Aids new employees with in-service and on the job training * Prepares all work assignments for the Evening Shift staff, to include oneself * Participates in the completion of housekeeping tasks, to include but is not limited to, floor cleaning, interior space cleaning, rest room cleaning, using appropriate equipment and supplies * Coordinates the floor cleaning program and cleaning schedule for the stairwells and elevators * Infectious waste pick up * Covers wherever necessary during help shortages, vacations, illnesses, etc. * Basic knowledge of computers and their use pertaining to the Veterans Home at Holyoke Housekeeping program * Complies with all VA, JCAHO and DPH requirements _Schedule:_ * This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position working from 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm * Alternating weekend and holiday schedule * Note: This is 24 hour/7 days a week long-term care facility and as a result, the Veterans Home at Holyoke may require this individual to be present during nontraditional hours when circumstances dictate the operational need _Required Qualifications:_ * Ability to deal tactfully with others * Ability to lift and carry heavy objects * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Knowledge of safety practices and procedures followed in institutional housekeeping * Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with others * Skilled in the use of using a computer /The job specifications outlined below and within the attached Form 30 are currently being reviewed and will be updated in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) effective July 2, 2023/ ABOUT THE VETERANS HOME at HOLYOKE – * The Veterans Home at Holyoke is a state-funded, fully accredited health care facility that offers veterans quality health care, including full-time residential accommodations, and provides educational and social services for Veterans in the Commonwealth.
