OneHolyoke CDC Bookkeeper in Holyoke, Massachusetts

The Bookkeeper is a full-time position, 35 hours a week, supporting all OneHolyoke CDC?s financial activities. Finances are managed through QuickBooks on an accrual basis. This is not a supervisory position but is supported by one part-time employee tasked with specific clerical accounting duties. The team reports directly to the Finance Director while carrying out all day-to-day operational matters affecting the company. This is a small office environment requiring flexibility and some cross training to support non-fiscal staff as needed. Our ideal candidate is an independent person with a strong working knowledge of accounting principles who enjoys being part of a mission-driven non-profit team. The candidate must also have a high degree of diplomacy and confidentiality as skill sets, along with very strong communication skills both verbal and written. Previous experience with QuickBooks or nonprofit accounting is a plus. Our Mission Statement provides: \"Every resident of Holyoke should live in a dignified home and a safe, attractive neighborhood. Coordinate the day-to-day financial operations under the direction of the Finance Director ? Assist in all activities required by the agency?s Fiscal Management Policies and Procedures ? Ensuring accurate data entry in QuickBooks ? Managing accounts receivable and reconciling bank accounts ? Assisting with overall grant management ? Provide support for audits Hiring Requirements/Preferences: ? BS/BA, preferably in accounting or a related field; 3-5 years of demonstrated finance experience may be substituted for degree. ? Proficient working on a computer including knowledge of QuickBooks and MS Office software. Supplementary accounting and property management accounting software is also in use. ? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a high level of organization and attention to detail. ? Knowledge of the Holyoke area and Spanish speaking is a plus.
