Automotive Trades Teachng Assistant Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated Career and Technical Education (CTE) Assistant for the Auto Collision program to support vocational instructors in delivering high-quality education. This role plays a key part in preparing students for careers in both automotive related careers by assisting with hands-on projects and classroom instruction. Key Responsibilities: Instructional Support: Assist in the planning and execution of both automotive and collision repair shop projects. Guide small groups of students in hands-on activities related to engine repair, vehicle maintenance, and bodywork, as well as related theory. Share basic knowledge of either mechanics or collision repair to enhance student learning and engagement. Classroom and Workshop Assistance: Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized workshop environment for students. Assist with the use, care, and maintenance of shop tools, equipment, and materials, including lifts, hand tools, welding equipment, and paint sprayers. Support the implementation of safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry safety standards for both mechanical and collision repair tasks. Student Support and Engagement: Assist in accommodating the diverse learning needs of students, including those who require additional help or instruction. Translate and assist in communication with Spanish-speaking ELL students, ensuring inclusive participation. Motivate students to develop their skills and professional attitudes, fostering growth in both technical and soft skills. Administrative and Operational Support: Help monitor student progress and maintain accurate records under the supervision of the instructor. Assist in managing classroom discipline and contributing to a positive, respectful learning environment. Participate in collecting and analyzing student performance data to help identify and support appropriate interventions. Qualifications: General knowledge of automotive repair, maintenance, or collision repair is preferred; experience in either area is welcome. Familiarity with shop safety procedures and the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized automotive or collision equipment. Ability to collaborate with high school students and faculty in a supportive learning environment. Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred. Physically capable of performing tasks related to moving equipment, standing for long periods, and assisting students with hands-on tasks. A willingness to pursue relevant vocational certifications, such as ASE or I-CAR, is a plus.
