The Automation Specialist in this position will be primarily responsible for Information Software with a focus on HMI, SCADA, Data Historians, Analytics, and Asset Management. It will also have responsibility for Programmer Logic Controllers (PLC). Both with the objective of increased sales, gross and net profit and excepitional customer service.
The right candidate will have experience with Server/Client deployments utilizing Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and/or Rockwell Software ThinManager, Hypervisor technologies like VMWare and Hyper-VHigh Availability and Fault Tolerant Server Systems.
Horizon's Automation Specialists must analyze and identify market and customer needs; design and sell solutions that maximize Horizon’s Automation Product Offerings, Services and Technical Support Services.
The Automation Specialist is Horizon’s primary technical support for assigned products, and in person applications, system design, start-up and trouble shooting assistance. Provide technical consultation and assistance to customers and Horizon outside sales staff and will research solutions/technical questions with product vendors.
Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of all automation product lines, with a focus on Information Software and Rockwell Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), with the desire and ability to add value to the customer’s processes. Introduce new products and tools, demonstrate features, advantages and benefits and answer customer questions regarding product applications and pricing.
The Automation Specialist will develop and manage customer relationships directly, as well as indirectly, through outside sales support staff. The Specialist will provide technical services; value added solutions, product pricing and availability directly to customers as well as to customers via other Horizon personnel.
Via written and/or verbal customer consultation; Identify customer needs and Horizon product specifications, services and solutions. Make recommendations with a technical basis, to design specifications and insuring product compatibility with customer’s proposed application.
Prepare quotations, project plans, schedules and determine pricing to meet customer needs.
Provide Product, Application and Project Management Expertise to grow Horizon's market share within the Automation/Electrical Markets. Participates in customer contract negotiations and renewal, quotations, pricing, delivery and billing/payment consistent with Horizon standards.
Monitor competitive trends and activity within the customer base/territory and make recommendations for competitively superior programs, services, contracts and pricing.
Must have and maintain a thorough knowledge of Information Software with a focus on HMI, SCADA, Data Historians, Analytics, and Asset Management Specific experience with FactoryTalk View, factoryTalk Historian, FactoryTalk Metrics, and FactoryTalk AssetCentre preferred. Must also be experienced in selling, designing, and/or implementing Server/Client deployments utilizing Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and/or Rockwell Software ThinManager, Hypervisor technologies like VMWare and Hyper-V, High Availability and Fault Tolerant Server Systems.
Understanding of Network configurations, and the ability to select appropriate switch technology for industrial networking Specific knowledge of Cisco and Rockwell Stratix switches a plus, including switch configuration and commissioning.
Electrical engineering principles in Programmable Logic Controllers and HMI Software and their applications in a variety of customer markets a plus. Rockwell product knowledge and experience preferred.
Understanding of the Consultative Sales Process for Technical Products and previous sales or direct sales support experience required. Experience with value added selling process strongly preferred.
Ability to influence and negotiate with a wide variety of individuals required; broad understanding of business processes, systems and structures preferred. Ability to plan and prioritize tasks and the ability to use business system software to retrieve and update information.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration/Mgmt desirable.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
