Our two campuses in Methuen and Haverhill have a total of 320 beds, and we are a full-service, acute care hospital offering comprehensive inpatient medical/surgical units, outpatient care, and 24/7 emergency services. We have three behavioral health units: cardiac telemetry, and critical care service lines. Our Haverhill campus offers all private rooms, and our Methuen campus offers a new state-of-the-art catheterization suite and Joint Center of Excellence, named as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction+ Center for Knee and Hip Replacement.

Summary:

Critical Care Nurses (ICU/CCU) provide care to acutely and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. These patients are facing life-threatening problems with varying needs, which require extensive medication protocols and therapies. Critical Care Nurses face the additional responsibility for the emotional and psychosocial health of the patient, family and significant others.

Critical Care RN is expected to function in the role of Clinical Resource Nurse.

  • Provides patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures.

  • Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays, such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, manometers, oxygen pumps, etc.

  • Appropriately prioritizes patient care (e.g., seeks assistance as needed from appropriate resources, reassigns personnel as necessary, recognizes need for emergency intervention, etc.)

  • Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.

  • Provides thorough, timely and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions and patient responses including assessment, care plan, patient goals and interventions according to established standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

  • Certification/ Licensure:

  • Current nursing license in Massachusetts required.

  • BCLS required.

  • ACLS required.

  • ENPC or PALS required.

  • TNCC preferred.

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
