Community Action of Pioneer Valley Family Center Playroom Assistant in Greenfield, Massachusetts
GREENFIELD POSITION SUMMARY: The Playroom Assistant is responsible for providing professional, culturally sensitive care for infants, toddlers and children of parents engaging in on-site group events. Playroom Assistant plans and carries-out quality age-appropriate activities, and group setting. The Playroom Assistant reports to the Family Center Program Manager. Playroom Assistant must complete the Community Action\'s employment application, CORI, and supply references. Duties are performed within the general policies and guidelines of Community Action and the Massachusetts Infants, Toddlers, and children guidelines. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide care and activities for infants, toddlers and young children of parents participating in on-site activities including parent education classes, socialization opportunities and support groups. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Promote the inclusion of all families. Assist in healthy snack/meal preparation. Set up and cleanup of playroom space. Provide responsible, nurturing supervision to children. Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the program. If, after waiting forty-five minutes, no children have arrived, the worker may leave and will be paid. Communicate discreetly with parents and other staff regarding behavior or needs of any child as warranted. Maintain records of children\'s attendance. Maintain log of activities provided for each meeting. Other duties such as trainings assigned by the supervisor or his/her designee. Maintains strictest confidentiality. Requirements ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with infants and children Experience working with families SKILLS REQUIRED Experience interacting with a culturally diverse population; demonstrated acceptance of individual differences and practice of inclusion Experience in leading appropriate activities for children. Ability to manage conflict situations among children appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate effectively with parents Ability to support children of different ages at the same time and the same place PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires ability to drive vehicle and climb stairs when performing home visit activities. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
