Heywood Hospital Scanner in Gardner, Massachusetts
Under the direction of the Senior Practice Administrator and Practice Manager incumbent is responsible for scanning medical records into Electronic medical records system in a timely and accurate manner. Accurately documents information provided by patients and processes incoming faxes and daily mail. Incumbent participates in customer service and patient satisfaction initiatives. Must learn and perform new standards and processes as they are implemented and complete any assigned training. Responsible for other duties and locations as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Preferred knowledge of medical terminology
Minimum Work Experience
- One (1) year of experience in a medical office preferred
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records Preferred and word processing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment
- General comfort level with computers/technology and ability to learn programs as needed.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands).

Must be able to work flexible shifts, some evenings & weekends may be required. Reliable transportation in order to travel between locations is also required.
Pull charts for scanning into EMR system.
Perform actual scanning of documents with high degree of accuracy and at a satisfactory pace.
Files charts in a timely manner.
Answers telephones, schedules in office appointments, takes messages accurately and routes appropriately
Performs a variety of clerical functions to support office such as typing, filing, scheduling appointments, making phone calls and related duties as required or directed.
Process incoming faxes and daily mail including barcoding and document processing within EMR.
Sorts and distributes mail
Performs duties in a professional manner while exhibiting a courteous and cooperative demeanor with patients, co-workers, management and the public.
Attends meetings as required.
Adheres to all appropriate aspects of the corporate compliance plan.
Maintains strictest confidentiality both internally and externally.
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
