Heywood Hospital Perioperative Services Materials Manager, OR, 40 Hours, Day Shift in Gardner, Massachusetts

Job Description The Perioperative Services Material Manager is responsible for managing, implementing, measuring, and directing all supply chain related activities within Perioperative Services; interacts with Perioperative and Materials Management personnel to facilitate supply needs. This position reports directly to the VP of Surgical Services Job Requirements Minimum Education * High School graduate or equivalent required. * Post High School education in healthcare or supply management field preferred. Minimum Work Experience * Minimum 2 years of experience in medical supply purchasing/materials management/supply distribution. * Experience within hospital environment required. * Experience withing perioperative services preferred. Required Skills * Strong preference given to candidate with Meditech Expanse experience. * Must be self-directed, posses strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. * MS office suite skills desired. * Must be able to work collaboratively with others and promote excellent customer service. Functional Demands Physical Requirements Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Essential Functions * In collaboration with the Director of Materials Management and VP of Surgical Services maintains adequate surgical inventory in a cost-effective manner * Responsible for day to day Supply Chain Operations within the Operating Room (OR) and Perioperative Services to include requisitioning, inventory and delivery of all supplies, materials (including biologicals) and equipment * Communicates daily with surgical staff, scheduler, surgery management, vendors, and physicians to ensure availability of supplies for scheduled cases. Serves as liaison between the Operating Room staff/management, Central Sterile staff/supervisors and the Materials Management staff/management * Evaluates surgical needs for materials and equipment, compares quality and cost of comparable products on the market (in addition to cost identifies opportunities and benefits of each product, surgeon satisfaction, etc. and presents for evaluation) * Conducts analysis of top cost items with purpose of cost reduction * Establishes par levels for all supplies and replenishes inventory as needed * Oversees physical inventory count at various times during the fiscal year and at year-end * Collaborates with the manager of the Athol OR to establish and maintain standardization in materials and equipment system-wide * Maintains all required medical device tracking pertaining to Perioperative Services * Maintain appropriate documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies * Works with OR biller to ensure daily charges are correct for all billable supplies. In event of OR Biller absence act as back-up for this role * Ensures supplies and services are ordered in a timely manner by processing requisitions, confirming price and shipping terms, delivery date and order. Maintains and updates records to ensure proper purchase order, price, quantity, vendor, and receipt information is entered for all supplies ordered * Works to resolve issues re: backorders, out-of-stock items, returns, price changes, substitutions, and other related Materials Management issues * Works closely with Materials Management staff for shipping repairs and returns to vendors, completes proper credit or return paperwork * Works with accounts payable to reconcile inquiries regarding questions on invoices, purchase orders and received supplies * Receives supplies; stocks and delivers to proper areas and keeps storage areas clean and orderly * Is knowledgeable of contracts, and communicates with vendors assuring adherence to current contractual pricing Statement of Other Duties This document describes the major duties and responsibilities for this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.
