Past travel has been to Switzerland, Iceland, Australia, Norway, Germany, and all over the United States. The Site Lead Role Overview:
Be the Site Lead during the initial build and installation phase.
Work with external vendors (rigging companies, local trade's personnel) to coordinate all efforts pre-installation and during the installation process.
Act as the direct interface to the customer during the install process.
Perform a wide variety of mechanical, electromechanical and electrical assemblies from engineering drawings, schematics, verbal and written procedures.
Assist team members with the integration of standard and customized products to meet Customers' requirements.
Work with in house shipping logistics group to receive all shipments at customer site.
Work with Project Leaders to ensure successful and on time installations
Work with customer and general contractors to gain badge access to the installation location.
Provide daily installation updates to customer and Project Leader.
Verify all required material necessary for the project has arrived onsite
Purchase any additional material required for the installation (to be reimbursed).
Return home for 8-10 weeks
Prior to project beginning, coordinate travel plans for team and work with local hotels to arrange for lodging for the teams next installation.
Gather all required documentation for installation and act as liaison back to our Client'soffice and Project Leader in case of questions or issues.
Repeat 3-4 times per year
Essential Skills & Experience
5 years' experience leading an on-site installation team, preferably in the Medical, Semi-conductor or Life Sciences industry.
Experience with capital/process equipment, automation and motion control systems.
Must have the ability to manage and meet schedule commitments, and possess good troubleshooting skills.
Keen attention to detail, strong documentation, and good record keeping skills.
Adept at reading schematics and assembly drawings
Able to work well with engineers, management, and customers
High level of self-motivation to assist customers, sales, and service people to overcome any problems that they may have which relate to our instruments in a timely manner.
Be able to stay positive and not be discouraged by scrutiny and suggestions
Comfortable working in Cold Environments, -20c environment -80c components.
Comfortable in confined spaces and still able to be aware of the environment.
Comfortable working around live and wired systems.
Understand the system as a whole. Mechanically, electronically, sensors, motors, power distribution, software, configurations, backups, etc.
Be hardworking and enthusiastic with exceptional attention to detail.
Be able to make decisions and act for customers and Project Leaders based on knowledge and experience.
Be capable of working under pressure without compromise.
Willingness to work additional hours and the flexibility to work overtime as and when onsite.
Position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Domestic and international travel is required. Installation travel is typically three to four times per year consisting of two to five weeks on site depending on the size of the project. Three weeks is typically average.
Education and Experience or Equivalent Experienced in installing large scale capital equipment is a must. Experience working with customers and/or Project Management in the life science/clinical/pharmaceutical field would be an advantage. A degree is in a relevant area would also be an advantage.
