Staples Senior Inventory Planner (Hybrid) in Framingham, Massachusetts

What you’ll be doing:
Utilize planning tools to accurately forecast department and/or vendor level inventory $ on hand levels and turn, and achieve budgeted goals
Create department and/or vendor level sales and margin plans by analyzing trends and accounting for incremental activity such as promotions, seasonality, etc.
Utilize key item planning tools to forecast demand and supply needs for specific core items
Provide future purchase guidance to vendor partners based on forecasted demand
Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with vendors. Operate as the primary contact for the total inventory team
Manage inactive inventory and partner with merchants on dispositions to ensure product is either returned or properly marked down
Forecast ads and seasonal promotions. Make recommendations on product offers to maximize sales and margin while minimizing residuals
Provide ad hoc analysis based on business trends and additional factors. Forecast various scenarios based on different assortment, price, cost and demand projections to provide merchants recommendations on most optimal ways to drive profitability
Partner with supply chain colleagues to optimize supply chain efficiency through inventory policy
Assist in minimizing key supplier lead times to warehouses and fulfillment centers with improved reliability
Develop new and creative ideas aimed at optimizing inventory to increase turn and maintain high service levels
Mentor, train, and act as a positive role model for less experienced inventory planners
Work autonomously to proactively develop improvements to enhance the planning process
Be recognized as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned categories by direct team and cross functional partners
Perform daily inventory fulfillment tasks including purchase order creation and determine allocation of available fulfillment centers
Review inventory KPI’s on a frequent basis and evaluate inventory management opportunities
Complete the daily out of stock review, identifying trends and inventory depth opportunities that could result in out of stocks.
Maintain proper SKU/Vendor setup as it relates to replenishment parameters in AS400, JDA Advanced Store Replenishment and/or Advanced Warehouse Replenishment applications.
Leverage JDA tools (e.g. profiling and seasonality) to improve inventory turns, in-stock and service level by fulfillment node.
Manage customer fulfillment KPI’s such as in-stock, late purchase order management, vendor fill rates, system lead days, etc.
What you bring to the table :
Create, maintain, and present period and yearly sales forecasts for their assigned categories at a micro (item based) and macro (department, vendor) level
Drive strategic alignment across multiple stakeholders for key product launches, promotional activity, seasonal inventory builds, and large customer on-boarding
Plans through analysis to ensure Merchandising and Inventory Management are synchronized to achieve or exceed sales, inventory turns, margin and service level objectives
Flexible, detail oriented, with strong planning and organizational skills
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong inventory management experience, with an emphasis on financial and item analysis and planning
Proven ability to create partnerships and influence others
Proven ability to assume a leadership role within your direct team of colleagues
Experience with business intelligence/decision support software
Experience in JDA software
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI), SQL and VBA.
Ability to provide insights, and/or predict opportunities proactively by extracting information from the data lake.
Ability to communicate effectively across a variety of stakeholders.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
5+ years of related work experience
Proficient in data analysis tools (i.e. Excel and Access) to perform statistical analysis
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience using SQL, MicroStrategy or related data mining tools
Experience working with Supply Chain Planning and Inventory Management systems (i.e. E3, JDA, Evant)
