The Family Services Navigator provides support to families enrolled in state funded family support programs including DESE/DDS, Agency with Choice (AWC) and Family Support Centers

Minimum Education Required
High School Diploma/GED
Liaise with state and support agency staff, stakeholders, families, and individuals.
Provide support to the family and individuals in the development of program specific documentation.
Provide information to families on community resources, benefits and transition supports.
Provide family support and assistance with recruitment, hiring and administrative oversight of staff.
Assist families and individuals in self-advocacy, decision-making and empowerment.
Remain current and knowledgeable in the field of disabilities and stay informed about the needs of the families and individuals served.
Maintain productive internal and external communication with staff, management, and family members.
Maintain proper documentation/record keeping.
Attend trainings, supervisions and staff meetings as assigned.
Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights Policy
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as social work or psychology and at least two years of relevant experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Strongly prefer candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
Possess strong verbal and in written communication skills and good judgment.
Must have basic working computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook.
Sensitivity to the needs of the population we support and family work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
Possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
Must hold a valid drivers’ license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle.
Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of individual empowerment and community integration.
Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Must hold a valid driver's license, have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
