Sanofi Group Data Science Co-op in Framingham, Massachusetts

Job Description

The data science team is working to support biologics manufacturing by developing process monitoring tools to optimize the lifetime of chromatography columns. These columns are run for many cycles during a manufacturing campaign, without any monitoring tools in place to determine if the column is still fit for use. If a column fails during a manufacturing campaign, it can result in the loss of millions of dollars in time, raw materials, and product loss. Similarly, the model will also be relevant to maximize the lifecycle of chromatography columns, preventing early column turnover. The focus of this project is to use data collected during each chromatography cycle to develop monitoring tools that can be used to monitor column health and optimize the number of cycles the column is used for. This work will require a combination of feature engineering, statistics/machine learning, and web app development to build a tool that can be deployed company-wide for chromatography process monitoring.

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. degree in quantitative field such as data science, engineering, mathematics, etc.

  • Experience using programming languages such as R or Python

  • Experience with feature engineering and statistics/machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with chromatography unit operations

  • Experience in app development with tools such as R Shiny
