South Middlesex Opportunity Council Clinical Recovery Specialist in Framingham, Massachusetts

Summary: Provide case management services for families in residential recovery program. Provide individual and group counseling, ensure clients follow program guidelines, and assist clients with appointments and aftercare.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as advocate for assigned clients.

  • Provide program coverage. Interact with children and parents and provide positive role modeling, feedback and guidance.

  • Responsible for conducting orientation with assigned clients.

  • Work with clients to develop and monitor progress of and Individual Treatment Plan.

  • Keep accurate, up-to-date written records including documentation of all case management and collateral contacts.

  • Make referrals for external resources including, medical, dental, health benefits, job training, Mass Rehab, career center, etc.

  • Assist clients with issues of housing, education, vocational and employment as identified upon admission.

  • Facilitate in-house recovery and/or skill building groups as assigned.

  • Act as contact person with client’s assigned DCF social worker when appropriate.

  • When needed provide support to other staff (childcare) during groups, counseling sessions, medical and other appointments and during emergency situations not otherwise specified.

  • Transport clients to appointments when needed.

  • Provide three (3) months of aftercare follow-up for all families who leave the program.

  • Ensue all residents are empowered, supported and treated with dignity and respect.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.

  • Represent the program and SMOC in the community

  • Attend monthly and weekly staff meetings, trainings and other meetings as requested.

  • Supervise and monitor clients’ self- administration of their medication in compliance with P&P.

  • Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.

  • Attend & participate in engagement team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.

  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Associates degree in human services or related field.

  • Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling or certification eligible

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in human services or related field.

  • Sensitivity to men and women in recovery and their children.

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  • Must be a team player.

  • If applicable, a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety.

  • Current certification in CPR

Organizational Relationship: Directly reports to Clinical Director. Direct reports of this position are None.

Physical Requirements: Ability to climb stairs. Ability to drive.

Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Clinical Recovery Specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
