Job Overview: Foxborough Regional Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Guidance Counselor with experience in student scheduling to join our vibrant community. As an integral member of our educational team, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to high school students, supporting their academic and career development. Responsibilities: Comprehensive Counseling Services: Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address students' academic and personal needs. Administer assessments and evaluations to identify students' strengths, interests, and areas for growth. Collaborate with students to develop academic and career plans tailored to their goals and aspirations. College and Career Readiness: Guide students through the college exploration, application, and decision-making process. Assist students in researching colleges, preparing application materials, and navigating financial aid opportunities. Facilitate career exploration activities, including internships, job shadowing, and career workshops. Academic Support and Advocacy: Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support students' academic progress and success. Develop intervention plans and strategies to address academic challenges and promote student achievement. Advocate for students' educational needs and facilitate communication between students, parents, and school staff. Student Scheduling: Coordinate with administrators and teachers to develop and maintain the master schedule for high school students. Assist students in selecting appropriate courses based on academic goals, graduation requirements, and post-secondary plans. Resolve scheduling conflicts and accommodate individual student needs to ensure a balanced and effective class schedule. Parent and Community Engagement: Collaborate with parents/guardians to support student success and address academic and behavioral concerns. Establish partnerships with community organizations, colleges, and employers to provide resources and opportunities for students. Data Management and Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including counseling notes, academic transcripts, and college application materials. Utilize the school's student information system and counseling software to track student progress, interventions, and outcomes. Qualifications: Master's degree in School Counseling or related field from an accredited institution. Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure/certification as a School Guidance Counselor. Previous experience working as a guidance counselor in a high school setting, with expertise in student scheduling. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse students, families, and staff members. Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and best practices for supporting academic and career development. Commitment to fostering a positive school culture, promoting equity and inclusion, and advocating for the needs of all students.
