Field Service Engineer

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Installation, troubleshooting, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment.

  • Calibrate & perform functional tests on microprocessor-based protective relays for high voltage substations.

  • End-to-end relay testing using Doble ProTest software or Protection Suite.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Professional skills in protective relay logic, protection schemes, write-ups, and documentation of test plans related to full commissioning substations.

  • Knowledge of Doble ProTest or Protection Suite.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills together with a proven commitment to safety and customer service.

Education & Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in high voltage substations.

  • Experience installing, maintaining, testing, & repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and similar equipment.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Driver's License Preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • RARE (less than 10%): squatting, depth-perception, color-vision, crawling, pushing, pulling, seeing distant, climbing ladders, balancing, gripping

  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body-twisting, sense-of-touch, manual-dexterity, lifting up to 10 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs., lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., climbing stairs, carrying, lifting, range-of-motion, reaching

  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): standing, walking, sitting

  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): seeing, reading, hearing-speech-range, speaking clearly
