Summary About the Position: This position is located at the Devens Reserve Forces Training Area (DRFTA), Devens, Massachusetts. DRFTA mission is to provide training facilities and support to all military services, reserve and active. It is a small base, located approximately 50 miles northwest of Boston, MA, in a small rural community. They offer many of the Soldiers' services found at larger bases including Army Community Services (ACS), Fitness Center, the Federal Credit Union, and much more. Responsibilities Performs installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirements as a guide. Exercises crowd control in situations that may become violent or unruly as a result of planned or impromptu demonstrations. Conducts Random Inspection Team (RIT) or Random Antiterrorism Measures (RAM) vehicle searches/inspections. Conducts liaison and coordinates with installation Director of Emergency Services (DES), Criminal Investigation Div (CID) and other State and Federal law enforcement agencies. Operates/performs research queries on National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s). Sets up and maintains visitor control roster and badges accountability log which is subject to quarterly and annual reviews and inventories. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) experience with working in a Federal, State, municipal, local or private organization that involves the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident or trespass; 2) maintaining order by patrolling perimeters, protecting life; and 3) responding to emergency situations and/or security breaches. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
