What is Nursing in Residential Programs at The Arc of Opportunity?

The nursing staff in our Residential Programs provide high quality medical care and guidance to the programs participants to ensure individuals receive the upmost standard of healthcare. The Residential Nurse Case Manager monitors the health care status of program participants for assigned residential programs, specifically our homes that support individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI homes). We have five ABI homes, typically with five residents in each home.

What Does the Residential Nurse Do?

  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides, advocates for, and monitors specialized and routine medical care to ensure that participants receive normative quality care, treatment, and respect in the community

  • Acts as liaison with local hospitals for admissions, course of hospitalization and discharges as well as general improvement of service delivery/coordination in conjunction with the Division Director of Nursing Services

  • Provides consultation, case management and site visits as required

  • Conducts Quarterly Health Care Review and Medication Administration audits for assigned programs

    Qualifications :

  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration of Nursing

  • Associates in relevant field is required, Bachelor’s in relevant field is preferred.

  • A minimum of two years prior experience with elderly or individuals with disabilities

  • Proven ability to utilize electronic health record systems to monitor compliance (currently iCentrix and HCSIS)
