Position Summary: Assists the Program and Division Director in the Day Habilitation program in implementing developmental skill training and social activities in a variety of settings to meet each person’s individual goals. Supervises assigned direct support staff members in addition to providing direct support to assigned individuals. Oversee morning and afternoon transitions.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (40 hr/week)
Essential Functions:
Develops, implements and monitors Day Hab service plans and clinical support strategies using Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) guidelines.
Serves as the primary contact for an assigned caseload.
Collaborates with the Program Director, Division Director, and Senior Leadership in the coordination and execution of agency and program goals.
Provide input and assistance in determining intake, transfer, and discharge decisions regarding individuals by utilizing program services.
Supervises, supports, trains and mentors assigned direct support staff.
Works closely with the interdisciplinary team to monitor the progress of program members.
Data entry into electronic systems and maintenance of electronic files. Outlook, Excel, Icentrix and other programs will be used daily within this position.
Assists in planning and implementation of developmental skills training through group activities, therapist recommendations, and other strategies.
May provide transfers for individuals who use wheelchairs using safe lifts and transfer.
Enhances and promotes The Arc of Opportunity’s strategic initiatives, culture, and organizational mission and values through positive promotion and representation while actively engaging in professional networking.
Maintains required certifications and re-certifications as required and in accordance with agency, State and Federal guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and CORI is required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.
Fluent in Spanish preferred but not required.
At least 6 months experience working in a training program for persons with developmental disabilities.
Reasoning ability to gather and apply factual information, exercise sound judgment, problem solve, and apply principles of influence systems such as motivation, team building, accountability, coaching/counseling of staff and leadership.
Cross-functional communication skills, in verbal and written English, which convey clear direction, desired results and vision to staff, individuals/families served, government agencies, community partners, funding sources, and senior management.
Computer literacy skills
Ability to:
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Kneel, bend push, pull and carry items.
Physically assist individuals according to their needs and perform restraints if necessary.
Sustain periods of walking, standing and sitting.
