Atlantis Charter School Full Time School Psychologist/Behavior Interventionist in Fall River, Massachusetts

Human Resources, Atlantis Charter School The School Psychologist/Behavior Interventionist has the appropriate training and credentials to provide comprehensive school psychology supports to our students, including all psychological testing, analysis, presentation, and referral duties. The School Psychologist/Behavior Interventionist facilitates learning and promotes the cognitive, social, and personal development of all students. The School Psychologist/Behavior Interventionist also supports teachers, staff, and administration in improving individual and collective capacity to serve students of varying needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate license issued by Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health Professionals as Educational Psychologist, national certification from the National Association of School Psychologists, OR receive a passing score on the National School Psychology exam, required Master’s degree in human services, sociology, psychology, vocational education, or related field preferred. Massachusetts DESE Licensure as a School Psychologist preferred Ability to assess students’ performance using various psycho-educational tools and basic understanding of the fundamental methods, techniques, and procedures involved in the education process. Must possess knowledge of the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of children. Demonstrated ability to interpret and create psycho-educational reports. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products and psycho-educational testing technology. Demonstrated organizational skills and staff training and supervision skills. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with staff, students, and families. Strong communication skills, both written and spoken. REPORTS TO: Special Education Director SUPERVISION: None ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: While actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances, the School Psychologist/Behavior Interventionist will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is not all-inclusive and that the K-12 District Leader and Special Education Director may also assign other tasks they deem appropriate. Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, screenings and assessments for referred students that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, social, emotional, and behavior status and develop written psychological reports and intervention plans to be reviewed by the Team and parents. Collect, analyze, and interpret assessment data and evaluation findings and communicate recommendations at all regularly scheduled Team meetings, including IEP, SST, DCF, Manifest Determination Hearings, BMP Hearings, and others as warranted Conduct observations of students in a classroom setting for psychological testing and as requested by SST. Conducts Functional Behavioral Observations and Assessments in the classroom setting. Conduct evaluations utilizing the Adaptive Behavior Assessment System for Children (ABAS) Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC), and other evaluation tools as required. Organizes and Oversight of Oasis and Regulation Station. In coordination with School Adjustment Counselors, develop and evaluate the effectiveness of school-based intervention plans. In coordination with Student Adjustment Counselors, provide counseling to students individually and in groups. Provide crisis intervention as needed. Assist in the development of Individual Education Plans and specific goals and objectives. Assist in conducting kindergarten screening and/or evaluations including student and family history. Facilitate intake of student information from parents as well as from appropriate personnel. Evaluate and score the Ages and Stages Questionnaire and review the Early Screening Inventory of all incoming kindergarten students. Treat all students and families with respect and demonstrate sensitivity in working with families, students, and staff from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Collaborate with educational staff to communicate testing results and in the development of educational objectives, goals, and planning. Consult with teachers and recommend effective teaching strategies, materials and methodologies based on students’ identified goals Train educators to effectively implement teaching strategies and general student management techniques based on student needs. Consult and collaborate with parents, school staff, and outside personnel regarding mental health, behavioral and educational concerns. Participate in planning and implementing prevention programs that address social and emotional needs of students including bullying, school violence, and school safety. Provide training to parents on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to child development and effective parenting. Assist parents in locating available educational and mental health resources as needed. Consult with parents regarding psycho-educational information and interventions. Serve as a resource to school personnel regarding evaluation instruments, and techniques. Provide any other in-service training needed for staff regarding behavior management, assessment, and other areas of staff interest. Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations related to the delivery of school psychological services, evaluations, assessments, reporting, record keeping and dissemination of confidential medical information. Maintains and respects strict confidentiality of any sensitive information related to Atlantis Charter School, its faculty, staff and students. Responds to concerns and requests of direct reports in a timely, respectful and courteous manner. EVALUATION Evaluation of the School Psychologist/Behavior Interventionist will be conducted by the Special Education Director TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 10 month position with part-time summer responsibilities as needed. WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to walk, sit and stand for long periods. Regularly uses a computer keyboard, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. " />
