Carpenter Journeyman

We are seeking Journeymen carpenters to join the team at Cape Associates, Inc. A journeymen carpenter is capable of layout, cutting rafters and stair stringers, side walling, and roofing. Journeymen carpenters at Cape Associates, Inc are working towards obtaining their Construction Supervisor’s License if they don’t already have it. They should be able to read and interpret building plans.

Requirements:

  • Work independently without as much instruction

  • Read and implement plans

  • Own a full set of tools

  • Knowledge of basic rafters, windows and doors, layout and production framing, layout stairs and railings, fastening schedule, interior trim, built ins and cabinetry

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to highest quality

  • Have more input on the job

  • Planning regarding time and materials

  • Have or pursue CSL

  • Must have a vehicle

  • Must be able to lift 80 lbs.

Carpenter Foreman

A Foremen Carpenter should have the leadership skills to run a crew, building everything from a small addition to a complete house. Foremen should be willing and able to train their crew of journeymen, apprentice and laborer carpenters with the techniques to make them better craftsmen. They should be well organized and able to communicate easily and effectively with team members, subcontractors, and designers. The foreman organizes the work and coordinates the various aspects of construction. He should be able to meet quality standards, cost requirements, and project time schedules.

Requirements:

  • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel

  • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors

  • Managing and mentoring employees and contractors

  • Providing adequate resources to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, and safety needs

  • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures

  • Developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites

  • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably

  • Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials

  • Must be able to lift 80 lbs.
