Project Manager, R&D Engineering (Product Development/R&D/ DHF) – Downtown Boston, MA
Kelly Services is currently looking to hire a R&D ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER to support our client, a leader in the medical device industry, at their site in Downtown Boston, MA. This is a long term contract opportunity, approved through the end of 2020, but expected to be extended beyond that term, that also offer benefits including PTO, paid sick time and 401k contribution. Understand the design and development aspects of a series of projects through all phases of the product development process; planning and executing projects or portions of projects from concept through commercialization, and into post-market surveillance.
Position requires the ability to accurately capture and translate user needs and clinical requirements into innovative, novel, and robust design solutions that can be comprehensively validated. Candidate must be able to apply knowledge of mechanical design processes to develop concepts, generate designs, and facilitate the manufacture of medical instruments and implants to meet the needs of surgeons & patients.
Candidate will support remediation efforts. Must have a strong compliance background and experience with Medical Device Regulations. Candidate must also possess strong knowledge of Bio compatibility standards. Engineer will need to make sure standards are appropriate and captured.
This individual should have a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage a varied workload, exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills and interface effectively with project teams, management and surgeons.
Experience with HW/SW – Software experience as it relates to the medical device required.
Experience with DHF (Design History File) and documentation required
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other technical discipline is required. An Advanced Degree is preferred.
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in engineering is required (not including co-op, internship and research). Prior experience in New Product Development role is preferred.
Experience working within a regulated industry is required; and Medical Device, or Orthopedic experience is preferred.
The ability to develop creative solutions for design problems is required.
The ability to work and execute projects tasks within a cross functional environment is required.
Prior experience working cross functional project teams, bringing products from concept to launch, is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to effectively communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals, surgeons, customers and/ or teams.
Proficiency utilizing MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) is required.
