The Manager, Operating Unit Strategic Analytics will partner with the Operating Units and GTS Analytics stakeholders to establish core capabilities within the team, namely:

  • Contributing to analytics and capability builds - Answer key business questions supporting long term planning activities and strategic initiatives using innovative data science techniques. Support the development of core analytical and data science tools, automated data pipelines and statistical methodologies for the team.

  • Supporting business decisions - Work closely with network strategy and manufacturing leaders to proactively identify and address priority business questions.

  • Contributing to team productivity and operational excellence - follow coding best-practices, coding standards and data analysis methodologies set by the rest of the team.

Developing Analytics and Capabilities

  • Develops and implements a broad array of business analytics that solve complex problems in a computationally efficient and statistically appropriate manner.

  • Actively manages multiple projects in parallel from charter through completion.

  • Follows best practices within stated areas of responsibility, applying appropriate levels of technical capability, standardization and subject matter expertise.

  • Becomes well-versed in the Bristol Myers Squibb technology stack and provides technical support for developing technology solutions in analytics deployment.

  • Contributes to capability builds for data automation, cloud computing and data lake integration.

Supporting Business Decisions

  • Work closely with business stakeholders and rest of analytics team to proactively identify and address priority business questions that bridge the gap between global network vs. manufacturing site strategy.

  • Supports the application of fact-based decision making for key site questions.

Supporting Team Productivity and Operational Excellence

  • Follows coding best practices/conventions as determined by the analytics team.

  • Contributes to documentation practices that describe analytics tool development, assumptions and input data and data processing.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BA/BS in a scientific or quantitative major required; advanced degree (Master or PhD) preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in contributing to predictive machine learning/statistical model solutions that created clear business value. Strong data engineering experience (advanced SQL, data manipulation pipelines, Tableau dashboards) with less modeling experience will also be considered. Relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or consulting preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience working with Python (required), SQL, Linux OS/CLIs and Git in production and operational environments. This includes proficiency in writing efficient, scalable code for data manipulation, analysis and modeling as well as designing and optimizing queries for relational databases to support robust, real-time data pipelines and machine learning workflows.

  • Experience with Bayesian/probabilistic modeling, discrete event simulation, software development and Amazon Web Services (AWS) managed services a plus.

  • Excellent team-oriented attitude and written and verbal communication skills.
