Bio-Techne Maintenance Technician in Devens, Massachusetts

A Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of automated manufacturing and packaging equipment. He/she is responsible for supporting new equipment installation, start-up, and validation as well as planning preventative maintenance activities. Other important responsibilities include the development of machine maintenance procedures, minimizing machine downtime, training of new machine operators, and good housekeeping practices.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Perform routine maintenance and adjustments of equipment.
Setup maintenance schedules on all equipment and coordinate activities with planning/scheduling.
Work with equipment manufacturers’ service technicians on repairs, preventative maintenance, and appropriate spare parts stocking.
Troubleshoot automation components, including sensors, servo motors, robotics, camera systems, and other instrumentation.
Create and maintain spare parts program.
Assist Engineering in the design or modification of equipment.
Assist with maintenance of the building and facility equipment as necessary.
Train new or existing personnel in set-up, operation and troubleshooting of equipment.
Assist in the creation or updating of preventative maintenance procedures.
Maintain good housekeeping requirements.
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook, SOPs and SWIs and as well as follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the safety program and in accordance to the job function.
Manage time well, including extended hours as needed.
Willingness to accept changes in work from day-to-day within reasonable and expected boundaries.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma (or equivalent) and 5 - 7 years of work-related experience are preferred.
Knowledge of GMP and ISO regulations are preferred.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing modern electrical and mechanical systems.
Strong understanding of electrical systems preferred.
Hands-on ability with machine tools such as milling machines and lathes is preferred.
Strong attention to detail with good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must be capable of working effectively in a team environment with co-workers and management within the organization.
The position may require occasional extended hours and occasional weekend coverage.
Minimum Physical Requirements:
Remain seated in a normal position for extended periods of time up to 8 hours
Walk, stand, and move for prolonged periods in a workday
Reach up and out with hands and arms
Talk and hear, verbally express information
Keyboard, 10 keys,
Repetitive motion; hands, arms
Lift up to 25 pounds and carry a distance of 10 feet
Use hands to grasp, hold, move and pickup objects continuously
Ability to stoop or kneel for a limited amounts of time
Ability to climb ladders < 5’ high
Occasionally push/ pull up to 200 lbs a distance of up to 100 feet
Able to spend time in cleanroom, freezer and areas of increased noise level
