Position Purpose: Assist in pre-season, mid-season, and ongoing training for ODP instructors, conduct skills assessments, observations and audits on ODP instructors, provide feedback and coaching for ODP Instructors, role model effective instruction, and mentor ODP Instructors when leading ODP programs. Manage staff requirements and scheduled events when assigned by the local ODP Leader. Responsibilities:
Promote to new, and retain all customers
Inspire people to engage in new outdoor activities
Assists ODP leaders with skills assessments and training
Performs Instructor Observations and Program Audits; provides regular and timely coaching and feedback to instructors
Completes Instructor Observation Form/Program Audit Form following SOP
Caps course capacity as assigned by ODP Leader
Cancels instructors from the schedule as assigned by ODP Leader
Instructs courses and role models the responsibilities outlined in the ODP Instructor job description as follows:
Safety
Demonstrates ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants and coworkers
Consistently performs all responsibilities associated with our safety protocols and program procedures
Confirms all equipment used is in appropriate working condition
Reports any unsafe acts or conditions to the appropriate person
Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations
Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
Ensures other employees are in compliance with comprehensive Health and Safety program
Communication
Always conducts self according to the highest ethical and moral standards
Represents the teaching profession at its highest level at all times
Communicates and lives our company core values of Outdoor Heritage, Service, Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, Safe and Healthy Living
Communicates professionally with all stake holders
Provides professional and timely feedback to peers and colleagues when the need arises
Knows and maintains expertise in equipment and products utilized in your programs
Knows specifications (uses, materials, pros and cons) of relevant L.L.Bean equipment and apparel and effectively shares information with customers to encourage product sales
Participates in promotional events when ODP/equipment expertise is needed
Is knowledgeable about other ODP programs, and promotional offerings
Course Curriculum and Administrative Duties
Has an exceptional understanding of course content
Possesses the ability to teach in a relaxed, clear and confident manner to a variety of participants
Effectively delivers all components of the curriculum in the allotted time
Delivers all key points required for course openings and closings
Performs daily administrative duties associated with instructing classes
Accurate and timely completion of the Daily Activity Reports
Participant agreements
Manifests
Incident report
Vehicle log
ADA documentation
Other duties as assigned

Mastery of relevant technical skills in ODP activities and working knowledge specific to local market
Demonstrated excellent teaching skills.
Experience leading trainings for outdoor professionals
Proven experience planning, organizing and leading outdoor trips
Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate participants
Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude
Established time management and organization skills
Demonstrated successful working relationships with peers and management staff.
Experience coaching, mentoring and providing feedback
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Takes own initiative, working independently in a leadership role
Strong knowledge of technical gear used in activities
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
Certified in Basic First Aid or above and CPR, additional certifications as relevant
Demonstrated ability to successfully resolve customer service issues
