Cell Signaling Technology Senior Scientist, Mass Spectrometry in Danvers, Massachusetts

We are fully committed to developing new research tools to help define the mechanisms underlying cell function and disease, thereby broadly accelerating progress in biomedical research and medicine.

We are seeking a highly collaborative, experienced mass spectrometrist to lead the operation of instruments in the MS lab(s), develop LCMS methods in support of all proteomics functions and supervise mass spec lab personnel.

  • Design, execution, and analysis of experiments to develop, optimize, and qualify LCMS methods to advance CST’s proteomics capabilities

  • Collaborate closely with research and development organizations for LCMS method requirements and data interpretation

  • Ensure consistent, high quality performance of all instruments and troubleshooting of underperforming instruments

  • Engagement with instrument vendors for instrument support and tech scouting for new method and instrument opportunities

  • Training/support of other MS lab staff with the opportunity for eventual management role

  • PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field

  • 3+ years post-graduate experience in proteomics/mass spectrometry/analytical sciences

  • 3+ years on-instrument peptide LCMS experience

  • Expertise with software for processing and analysis of MS data, including database search and quantitative and statistical analysis

  • Experience with Thermo Orbitrap mass spectrometers (QE, Lumos, etc)

  • Able to diagnose instrument issues as they arise

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple instruments at once

  • Organized, logical thinker with ability to define problems, design studies, interpret data, and draw valid conclusions

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration skills

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Commitment to generating high-quality LCMS data

  • Experience with intact protein characterization / Antibody characterization using mass spectrometry
