State of Massachusetts Registered Nurse IV - ABI\MFP in Danvers, Massachusetts

The work location for this position is in Danvers, MA.

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Northeast Regional Office (Danvers), is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Registered Nurse IV (RN IV) for the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Moving Forward Plan (MFP) Department. The RN IV position will serve as the Northeast Region ABI/MFP Team healthcare expert and will provide technical assistance and consultation to staff of the area office and to provider agencies. The RN IV will consult with area office staff regarding critical medical decisions on behalf of individuals receiving DDS support including providing liaison between the individual's ISP team and primary care providers.


Duties and Responsibilities:_* (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive.)

  • Completes clinical consultations using medical plans and/or charts, observations/interviews, and collateral contacts to recommend appropriate services and supports.

  • Serve as the ABI/MFP team liaison with nursing homes and will participate in nursing home visits and discharge planning meetings.

  • Collects, Monitors, reviews, inputs, evaluates and reports information pertaining to medical issues and overall healthcare concerns and topics to the the ABI/MFP Management team.

  • Attends Statewide medical/nursing meetings and will provide training and information to DDS and provider staff on health care issues and on strategies for improving access to services.

  • Participates in the Regional ABI/MFP Team Risk Management meetings concerning healthcare and related needs.

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic or medical facility and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory, administrative or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.


I. A Graduate degree with a major in Nursing may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.* No substitutions will be allowed for the required (B) experience.

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL LEVELS IN SERIES:Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.*

*Recent graduates from an approved school of nursing must have applied for the first available registered nurse examination. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.
