The Clinical & Medical Affairs function provides leadership and direction on medical, scientific and clinical decisions related to the overall Leica Biosystems business strategy. The scope of the Manager, Medical Operations role involves being an active member of the Clinical & Medical Affairs leadership team. The role will support the VP, Clinical & Medical Affairs and Medical Directors with complex issues and projects, as well as the development and execution of the Medical Affairs operational strategy.
Builds and leads team of Medical Operations associates who support uptake through New Product Development support and clinical and technical education with Molecular Pathologists and Oncologists
Brings technical and project expertise to develop and execute the Medical Affairs Infrastructure while delivering timely and effective solutions that create value across countries and global regions
Accountable for the creation and implementation of Medical Affairs Standard Work
Facilitates partnership across business units and functional lines, including Commercial teams, to ensure overall Medical Affairs process meets the needs of internal and external customers
Together with Medical Directors and Medical Science Liaisons, defines and cultivates evidence funnels, including investigator-initiated studies
Provides logistical and planning support for Global Medical Affairs Team Meetings
Supports the creation and implementation of educational and scientific materials in conjunction with Medical Directors for Medical Affairs training, including development and assessment of Medical Science Liaison skills and soft skills training
Participate in the development and execution of key opinion leader (KOL) outreach plans, including supporting meetings with KOL’s
Oversees and reports the Global Medical Affairs budget and resource planning
Talent Management: Manages professional associates. Identifies appropriate skills to achieve objectives, develops associates, implements and reports key performance indicators for Medical Affairs
Demonstrated strength in leading cross-functional teams
Demonstrated strength in developing/growing a functional area
Demonstrated strength in working closely with management to develop effective and creative solutions to complex problems
Past success in mentoring colleagues, improving their skills and expanding their abilities/knowledge
Past success in influencing individuals, groups outside immediate control
Past success in managing highly complex multiple projects simultaneously
Education and Experience
BS/BA and 8 years, MS/MA and 6 years, or PhD and 4 years of relevant clinical or medical operations experience
Experience and knowledge of in vitro diagnostics (IVDs), preferably in Oncology
Ability to make data driven decisions that maximize business success and patient impact
Demonstrated expertise in interpretation, summarization and presentation of scientific data required
Demonstrated expertise in technical writing (e.g. published manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, investigator brochures, or the clinical sections of PMAs and 510K submissions) required
Periodic travel may be required (up to 25%)
