Part Time Library Page DEPARTMENT: Library ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Shelves library materials in proper sequence Assists in assuring accurate library shelving by shelf-reading collection Sorts materials into bins for interlibrary loan Sorts materials for re-shelving Operates a variety of standard office and library machines Assists in retrieving and processing atierals placed on hold by patrons Assists with library programming preparation Organizes work according to established procedures Performs related work as required SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates and the general public. Understanding of Dewey decimal system. Ability to alphabetize and organize. Ability to pay attention to detail. Computer literacy and typing ability for data entry. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum requirement: High school education in progress. LANGUAGE SKILLS Good knowledge of the English language Good ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions REASONING ABILITY Ability to understand and follow instructions and to work independently when required. Ability to file alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate a computer and other standard office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
