Motor Equipment Operator/ Laborer Department of Public Works - Sanitation Division Department Description The Chicopee Department of Public Works preserves, maintains, and improves the City\'s infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, trees, parks, cemeteries, signs, traffic signals, sewers, and storm drains. About the Job The City of Chicopee\'s Department of Public Works / Sanitation Division is hiring a Laborer whose primary responsibility will be picking up and loading trash and recycling materials throughout the city into vehicles. Qualifications To be minimally qualified, one must meet the following criteria: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience: high school diploma preferred. Massachusetts Class D License required. The city may consider applicants without said Massachusetts Class D Driver\'s License but as a condition of hire, said license must be acquired within six (6) months of hire. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds as per municipal ordinance. Licenses (If Applicable) Class D Driver?s License Essential Duties Include Runs a hopper. Picks up trash/recycling products. Loads trash into hopper. Cutting brush and grass May be assigned to litter clean up. Adheres to all state, federal, and local safety regulations as well as City of Chicopee Health and Safety policies. Expected Hours of Work This is a Full-Time, 40 - hours/week position, with a schedule of 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
