Job Description

Lead Catering Staff

Basic Function and Responsibility

Supervises, coordinates, and delivers service for on- and off-site catered events, including bar service and premier service, such as in the President?s Dining Room. Provides a timely and professional response to the needs of the customers. Moderately heavy lifting is necessary.

Characteristic Duties

-Performs functions of a catering waitstaff and bartender for service of cocktails and meals to catered events for high profile clientele (i.e. set tables, make cocktails, serve clients, side work, post event breakdown and clean up, and resetting of dining area).

-Must be familiar with and proficient with multiple styles of service.

-Maintains and monitors equipment inventory (china, flatware, glassware, utensils, etc.) and recommends replacement or repair as needed.

-Performs cleaning, safety, and sanitation functions.

-Works flexible and ever-changing event schedule, including evenings and weekends.

-Demonstrates knowledge of superb customer service and etiquette. Able to continually learn and pass on service knowledge to other team members.

-Assists with planning, packing, delivery, and set up of events.

-Must have an authorized alcohol service certificate.

-Proficient at cocktail production with accuracy but have minimal use of written recipes in public.

-Trains students, temps, and on-call staff to Boston College levels of service.

-Demonstrates high degree of professional decorum and provide service to high profile guests that may require confidentiality.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision Received

Reports to Catering Managers.

Supervision Exercised

Assist in monitoring work of student, temporary, and on-call waitstaff, bartenders, or other temporary staff.

$24 - $27/hr

Requirements

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma required. Must understand all aspects of white glove banquet service. NRA ServSafe alcohol certification and MRA Allergen certification required.

Experience: 3-5 years of high-level table service in a fine dining or catering environment or luxury hotel. Must be minimum 21 years of age.

Skills: Must be fluent in speaking and reading English. Must have excellent human relation and interpersonal skills. Must have very good organizational skills and able to work in fast paced environment. Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an on-going basis.
