Job Description

Responsible for maintenance of Boston College vehicles and equipment and other required duties. Prepares parts

requisitions material records and establishes proper parts inventory. Establish and maintain effective working relationships

with those encountered during work.

Requirements:

Mandatory 3-5 years as an established fleet mechanic at an academic institution, construction company, landscape

maintenance/construction operation, local municipality, golf course, or equivalent

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, fleet management software, and or Boston College software platforms

High school diploma, trade school certificate, or equivalent

Read, understand, and follow written and oral instructions such as factory service bulletins, automotive, light truck,

and heavy construction equipment manuals and memorandums

Maintain any Continuing Education requirements for servicing vehicles

Valid MA driver’s license

Requires technical expertise in the following areas:

Techniques and methods of overhauling and repairing light, medium, and heavy gasoline, alternate fuel, and diesel powered equipment and related components.

Theory, care, and operation of gasoline and diesel-powered internal combustion engines and mechanical components for the maintenance and repair of heavy and other mechanic equipment

Diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work

Repair and overhaul light, medium, and heavy gasoline and diesel-driven powered equipment

Methods, materials, tools, and equipment of the trade and their use in the maintenance and repair of heavy and

other mechanical equipment

Preventative Maintenance inspection methods

Methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline-powered

light, medium, and heavy equipment

Safe work methods and safety regulations about the work

Diagnose and repair diagnostic trouble codes

Familiar with State and federal-mandated inspections for vehicles and equipment

Comply with all applicable OSHA/EPA laws and regulations regarding materials waste and storage and handling

Repair and overhaul all-terrain vehicles such as John Deere Gator. Bobcat Toolcat, John Deere Tractor

Must be able to perform calculations, communicate orally, read, comprehend, write, reason, and analyze.

Must be able to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk, climb, push/pull, kneel, handle objects (manual dexterity), reach

above shoulder level, and use fine finger movements.

Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.

The employee will be subject to the following Environmental Conditions on the job:

Will be exposed to excessive noise

Will be around moving machinery

Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity

Will be exposed to dust, fumes, and gasses

Will drive motorized equipment

Will work in confined quarters with proper PPE
