Job Description

The Boston College Assistant Facilities Supervisor, Brookline Campus is overall responsible for aiding in the planning, monitoring and conducting of all maintenance operations in support of the 49-acre campus consisting of 21 academic, athletic, multifunctional and residential facilities consisting of over 350,000 sq. ft. The Assistant Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will accomplish this by using a combination of in house and contracted staff and have the support of the Boston College Facilities Services organization. The Assistant Facilities Supervisor reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor, Brookline Campus and assists in coordinating, supervising, and managing all trades, custodial, life safety, landscape, and support services necessary to operate the property and perform any minor repairs as needed. The Assistant Facilities Supervisor also coordinates many set ups for all scheduled events and programs and refers and communicates all related issues to appropriate staff in Facilities Services when assistance is needed.

Experience in building maintenance and/or construction is required. Strong mechanical aptitude preferred. Licenses and certificates in any building trade including operating engineer will be advantageous. Knowledge of conference, retreat or hotel operations would be helpful. Experience with gardening and landscaping is preferred. Experience working with and/or supporting conference and/or retreat work would be helpful. Independent, self starter who can work with limited direct supervision. Well organized and detailed with the ability to plan and execute in a timely manner. A strong customer service attitude is required. Ability to relate to and work with various constituencies within a higher education environment.

This position is best served by an individual who is skilled in one of the major crafts operating in the Facilities Services Department; has working knowledge of other major crafts operating in the plant; and is able to interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, diagrams and sketches. Ability to interpret and transmit oral and written instructions is required. Candidates must possess strong leadership skills, demonstrated managerial experience, outstanding communication and organizational skills and a commitment to providing quality service to the University. Knowledge of carpentry trade, and all mechanical and electrical systems is essential. Skills in planning, coordination and scheduling are essential to maintain the organization, and therefore, the facilities in an efficient up-to-date manner.

High School diploma or equivalent is required. An Associates or Bachelor?s degree would be preferred. Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Demonstrated successful leadership in facilities management environment and knowledge of facilities operations and maintenance crafts, services and systems are critical.

Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends in order to complete projects, especially during peak periods and emergencies is essential.

The requirements of this job merit the hiring of an active individual that would be required to walk the University’s buildings and grounds on a daily basis. Ability to lift 50 pounds is required.

The work schedule is expected to be Monday through Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM

Salary Range- $47,000-53,000
