Job Description

Assistant Coach

Assist in the administration and coaching of an N.C.A.A. Division 1 program as directed by the head Coach. Duties include, but are not limited to, practice and game coaching, recruitment of prospective student-athletes on and off campus, supervision of strength and conditioning program, and general administrative tasks such as expense reports, recruiting database, N.C.A.A. compliance logs and forms. Also, assist with administrative duties in the areas of academic monitoring, media relations, and alumni affairs. Must be committed to the academic and athletic development of all student-athletes. Adherence to all University, Hockey East and N.C.A.A. policies and procedures.

Reporting to the head women’s ice hockey coach, the assistant women’s ice hockey coach will help provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of a competitive program. This includes;

Strong ability to assist in providing overall leadership of the women’s ice hockey program

Proven recruiter and evaluator at Division I level

Ability to foster a strong and positive culture within the program

Maintain high level of academics

Assist with the management of coaching, team practices, competitions, road travel, scheduling, workouts, academics, and life-skills

Assist in managing the program budget and team travel

Ensure compliance with all department policies and guidelines

Comply with all applicable Boston College, Hockey East, and NCAA rules, guidelines, and policies

Represent themselves in a manner consistent with positive representation of Boston College

Opportunity within University guidelines to assist in the management, hosting, and executing annual ice hockey camps and clinics at Boston College

Salary commensurate with relevant experience. Suggested range is $66,000 to 82,000

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required, Masters Degree preferred. Competitive intercollegiate experience desirable. 3-5 years successful coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level. Expertise in technical aspect of sport. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with college athletes, athletic staff, University personnel and alumni. Basic knowledge of N.C.A.A. rules needed. Proficient compute skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and File Maker Pro.
