Kayem Foods, Inc. Process (Development) Engineer - day shift in Chelsea, Massachusetts
SUMMARY: The Process Development Engineer will be responsible for organizing, planning, managing, and executing process development and cost reduction projects. This individual will work with project teams to investigate and recommend methods, processes, systems, and equipment to bring assigned project to successful conclusion. This key member of our team will provide technical support in our manufacturing and distribution operations related to the installation or modification of production and assembly lines and projects that increase efficiency, reduce cost and waste, maintain/improve quality and workflow. The Process Development Engineer must have the ability to effectively manage/recommend projects that will lead to opportunity for innovation, growth, and profitability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support assigned project team with all Process development/modification needs
Manage multiple Process development and cost reduction projects and/or programs
Responsible for ensuring that all projects are seen through to completion including documentation and protection of intellectual property
Leads assigned resources in problem identification and problem resolution to facilitate new or improved product manufacturing design, processing upgrades or improved processes that facilitate cost savings, elimination of losses and inefficiencies, new processing methods, and product innovation
Coordinate start up of new equipment, lines, initiatives, and projects
Work as a cross functional resource with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and QA
Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with operations/divisional management, external vendors, and other stakeholders. Leverages external vendors and works directly with their representatives and technicians
Creating and improving standards to achieve performance targets for production lines and systems
Desire to learn and work with state-of- the art robotics and automated equipment
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able perform each essential duty satisfactorily. BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, electromechanical, industrial)
Ability to analyze, and interpret technical manuals. Write technical documents, procedures and SOPS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; take action on issues based on these conclusions and resolve problems
Strong communication skills
Desire to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment with technicians and equipment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Autocad or Solid Works
Skills in a trade are a plus. (welding, plumbing, mechanics, electrical, heavy equipment operation etc.)
Must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds
Ability to perform duties and work in a wet / cold / refrigerated environment with noise levels in the plant that are usually loud
