Hourly rate 19-24
Role Purpose: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Determine the most effective and efficient method of shipping/pick-ups and provide documentation as required for each shipment.
Determines method of shipment from ERP system and customer orders.
Notify freight forwarders of tentative pick updates, estimates of pieces, weights and dimensions with a sense of urgency.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Generates shipping paperwork, including packing slips, Certificate of Conformances, generating summary sheets using internal data.
Interacts with customer service to provide tracking information and other shipping records.
Generate Commercial invoices for international shipments.
Filing paperwork in accordance with internal procedures.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years’ experience working with domestic and international documents and shipments.
• Must be experienced with freight forwarding companies.
• Solid experience with Word and Excel required.
• SyteLine and/or ERP system experience preferred.
