Hourly rate 19-24

Role Purpose: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Determine the most effective and efficient method of shipping/pick-ups and provide documentation as required for each shipment.

  • Determines method of shipment from ERP system and customer orders.

  • Notify freight forwarders of tentative pick updates, estimates of pieces, weights and dimensions with a sense of urgency.

  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.

  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.

  • Generates shipping paperwork, including packing slips, Certificate of Conformances, generating summary sheets using internal data.

  • Interacts with customer service to provide tracking information and other shipping records.

  • Generate Commercial invoices for international shipments.

  • Filing paperwork in accordance with internal procedures.

  • Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.

  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• 2 years’ experience working with domestic and international documents and shipments.

• Must be experienced with freight forwarding companies.

• Solid experience with Word and Excel required.

• SyteLine and/or ERP system experience preferred.
