The Human Systems group at Triton practices a human-centered design process to deliver user driven solutions in the products we create. We primarily work on projects within the following key focus areas: synthetic training systems & extended reality (XR) wearable products physiological monitoring trauma & field care medical devices novel human-machine interfaces including haptics We are seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineer to join our team. Objective of Role: In this role you will be responsible for leading human-centered product design effort as we develop innovative solutions for our customers. You will offer vision and guidance to the multidisciplinary team as they perform user research, build prototypes, and work with subject matter experts to transform user feedback into actionable product requirements. Some of Your Responsibilities: Provide management and technical leadership of 2-3 concurrent projects Deliver product definition and direction to technical team through user centered observation methods, from subject matter expert interviews to formal, systematic human subjects research Presentation of results to customers (written and oral) Direction and mentorship of junior staff Support business development through proposal writing and the pursuit of strategic partnerships Recognize and creatively solve complex problems You will be expected to work with colleagues on small teams, both within the Human Systems group and with other groups across Triton, on a diverse array of projects. You will communicate clearly and effectively with customers, partners, and vendors. Minimum Requirements: BS in Human Factors, Engineering Psychology, Biomedical Engineering or related engineering field; Advanced degree is desired 7-12 years of experience working in human-centered product design or related fields Experience in all stages of product design process, from initial definition of requirements, through concept and prototyping, and into refinement, risk mitigation and validation Ability to devise intuitive and effective user interfaces, both digital and physical Expertise in performing a wide range of user research methods, including focus groups, stakeholder interviews, and formal usability studies Experience developing simulated operational environments and usability assessment plans to evaluate technologies at various levels of technology readiness Experience managing technical teams, typically 2-3 people, including human factors, mechanical, electrical and software staff Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to maintain multiple concurrent projects, providing deliverables on schedule Adaptability and desire to learn new technologies Familiarity with design history management and regulatory compliance is desired Experience with statistical analysis methods is desired Experience with SBIR programs is desired Due to the nature of our business and information associated with this position, interested candidates must be US Citizens and may be subject to a security investigation.
